Researcher Active Safety with expertise in functional safety

For a period of 12 months

Your tasks:

As a research engineer you will help execute specific projects for the industry and you will help build up the competencies in the domain Active Safety at Flanders' DRIVE. More specifically this means that:

You wil execute customer oriented research projects for the wide application of functional safety standards in vehicles.
You translate the demands of the functional safety standards into practical applicable design methodologies and process descriptions.
You work together to guarantee the functional safety approach and the construction of the 'safety case' in specific development projects, that are embedded in all aspects of functional safety, from danger- and riskanalysis over specification and implementation to integration and validation of mechatronic systems for as well as in vehicles.
You will work closely together with fellow researchers within Flanders' DRIVE and/or the researchers in the industry to realize project goals and deliver convincing results.
You will report to the program manager Active Safety.

Your profile:

You are an industrial or a civil engineer and you have design experience in (safety critical) embedded systems.
You have a solid theoretical and practical knowledge of system design (HW/SW). Experience with functional safety standards like IEC 61508, ISO 26262 and affinity with techniques like FMEA, FTA and FMEDA is an asset.
You have a passion for the newest mechatronic applications and vehicle techniques.
You have an excellent analytical ability and a creative mind. This enables you to transfer ideas into solutions.
You dispose of excellent communication skills.
A customer oriented, operational and result driven method is innate to you.
