Senior researcher Lightweight Materials with expertise in joining techniques

Your tasks:
As a researcher you conduct concrete projects for the industry and contribute to building the competencies in the domain of Lightweight Materials at Flanders’ DRIVE. More specifically this means that:
  • You conduct customer oriented research projects for the wide application of joining techniques, particularly adhesive bonding in vehicle systems
  • Your expertise and its application relates to all aspects of specification, design, implementation, integration and validation of joining techniques for mechanical vehicle systems.
  • You will work closely together with your fellow researchers within Flanders’ DRIVE and/or the researchers in the industry to realize project goals and deliver convincing results.
  • You contribute to the scientific output and publications of the research results. 
  • You will report to the program manager Lightweight Materials.

Your profile:

  • You are an engineer or similar by experience and you have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the vehicle industry, preferably in the product development.
  • You have a solid practical and theoretical knowledge of joining techniques, more specifically of the design and the application of glues and tapes. Knowledge of production processes, HSE, QA or QC-aspects is an asset.
  • You have experience with project execution and you have developed a good project methodology. Moreover, you have good communication skills and a talent for organizing.
  • You have a flexible personality and team spirit and you are punctual.
  • You have an excellent analytical ability and a creative mind. This enables you to transfer ideas into high tech solutions (in consultation with various stakeholders).
  • A customer oriented, operational and purposeful method is innate to you.
